Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some questions/answers that we are frequently asked. If you have additional questions that aren't covered here, please feel free to give us a call at South Tampa Veterinary Care.
1. What are the Hospital hours?
Our hospital is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00am to 5:30pm. On Tuesday, the clinic is open from 8:00am to 6:30pm. On Saturdays we are open from 8:00am until 12:00pm. The clinic is closed on Sunday.
2. Do I need to have an appointment?
Appointments are preferred, however, if you pet needs to be seen we will schedule a work-in appointment or set up a day-admit. Please call the clinic ahead of time for scheduling.
3. What forms of payment do you accept?
Cash, Check, Mastercard, American Express, Visa, and CareCredit
4. Can I make payments?
Payment is required at the time of service but we do accept CareCredit.
5. What are the hospital prescription policies?
By state law, a veterinary-patient-client relationship must be maintained to prescribe and dispense internal medications, for example heartworm preventive, antibiotics and pain medications. This is fulfilled by performing annual exams for cats and annual exam and heartworm tests for dogs. Certain conditions and medications require a separate appointment and/or lab work before prescribing or renewal of prescriptions. We will try to combine monitoring lab work with your annual visit if feasible. This keeps everyone within the law and your pets healthy. Please call with any questions.
6. Do you board pets?
Yes, we do boarding for our clients. We have boarding space for both dogs and cats, however, we only accept dogs for day boarding whereas cats can be boarded overnight. It is preferred to bring your own food for your pet's GI health but, of course, is provided if needed. Please call the clinic to schedule boarding.
7. What are your kennels like?
Our dog kennels are all indoors. The dogs are walked 3 times daily while they are at our clinic. We do not board dogs overnight. The cat boarders are housed in a separate room away from the dogs. Blankets and beds are provided for our boarders but you are always welcome to bring your own.
