South Tampa Veterinary Care (STVC) is now fully open with mask-optional in the building. However, we have left several COVID policies in place.
For appointments and weight checks, please call in to be escorted by a technician directly into an exam room or the scale.
For bordetella (kennel cough) vaccines and Cytopoint injections, please call in and give your parking spot number. A technician will administer the medications in your car or in the hospital depending on your pet’s disposition.
For food and medication pick up, please call in and give your parking spot number and a staff member will bring them out to your car.
As a reminder, retractable leashes are not allowed in the clinic for the safety of your pets. We look forward to seeing you. - STVC
Dr. Denise Ginex is a 1991 graduate of the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine and a 1992 intern at the University of Illinois Small Animal Medical and Surgical Internship. She began her undergraduate education at the University of South Florida before completing her B.S. in Zoology at the University of Florida in 1986. She worked for 15 years as an emergency clinician and later became Chief of Staff at the Tampa Bay Veterinary Emergency Service in the Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists group in Largo, Florida. She left in 2008 to open South Tampa Veterinary Care to focus on preventative care.
She is a Tampa native who grew up in South Tampa and attended Tampa Catholic High School. She has been a SOG since 1993 and was proud to open her business so near her home. Dr. Ginex served in the US Army Reserve, AMEDD, for eight years after graduation and now to fills in at the Veterinary Treatment Facility at MacDill Air Force Base. She is married and is the mother of two children, two dogs, and three cats.
Dr. Morgan Coons is a passionate and dedicated veterinarian who bringsover a decade of experience in the veterinary field to her role. Anative of Florida, she was born and raised in Bradenton, Florida. Dr. Coons discovered her love for animals at an early age and worked as a veterinary assistant throughout high school. Her commitment to animal care only deepened as she progressed through the field, eventually becoming a veterinary technician before pursuing her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences from the University of Central Florida (UCF) and went on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her clinical training at the University of Florida, where she gained hands-on experience in a wide range of specialties within a high-paced, multidisciplinary veterinary hospital. When she’s not in the clinic, Dr. Coons enjoys soaking up the Florida sunshine, a good Pilates class, and spending quality time with her two dogs, Gracie and Zeek. She is excited to be serving her community and looks forward to building lasting relationships with clients and their beloved animals.
